ABSTRACT
This article intends to explain the role of public interventions in the improvement of education and its importance in the formation of citizens. Therefore, it is also explained the role of the State Government as a promoter of these public interventions, doing a connection between some data about the theme and things related, as well as some results achieved by these political interventions. Besides that, some perspectives and possible interventions are given to better understand the theme by comparing the optimal result and the results achieved. First, it is shown how education works to make the society better and the benefits a country would have if it invested in education. Secondly, from Law, Guidelines and Bases of National Education (Diretrizes e Bases da Educação Nacional – LDB), and National Curriculum Parameters (Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais – PCNs) we try to clarify the duty of State Government related to education and the social relationship in a whole. Thirdly, it is exposed the importance of these political interventions in Brazil, so we can discuss whether they are indeed important or not. Finally, to better understand all this process, it is given a short report on Brazilian education, including some perspectives and possible interventions as it was mentioned before. This article is worth for a critical-theoretical analysis of education or the State's role in socio-political processes of a country, because it makes a relationship between these issues and public policy, and political elements that are important for any country wishing to develop.
