TRANSFORMAÇÕES DO CAMPO RELIGIOSO

Resumo. As sociedades latino-americanas se apresentam neste final de milênio com um campo religioso profundamente transformado e reordenado, onde diferentes formas de expressão religiosa - institucionais e não-institucionais, tradicionais e novas, permanentes e efêmeras, fundamentalistas e performáticas, sectárias e ecumênicas - convivem no contexto de um pluralismo que parece não colocar limites à diversidade. O presente artigo propõe-se problematizar a dinâmica deste campo religioso na modernidade considerando a diversidade religiosa e a secularização como dois processos historicamente associados. Procura-se reconhecer a importância da análise da experiência religiosa na sociedade contemporânea como um elemento vital nos processos de interpretação dos fatos sociais e de fazer e refazer identidades coletivas.
Abstract. Latin American societies show themselves in this end of millenium with a deeply changed and renewed religious field, where different forms of religious expression - institutionals and not institutionals, traditionals and new, permanent and short-lived, fundamentalists and performatics, sectarians and ecumenics - share a context of a pluralism that doesn’t seem to put limits to the diversity. The present paper intends to discuss the dinamics of this religious field in the modernity, considering the religious diversity and the secularization as two historically associated processes. We try to recognize the importance of the religious analisys in the contemporaneous society as a vital element in the interpretation processes of the social facts and in the ones of building and rebuilding collective identities.
