GEOGRAFIA DA SAÚDE E AS CONCEPÇÕES SOBRE O TERRITÓRIO
This research discusses the role of the Geography of health along the history; it covers not only the
Geographic medicine that describes the illness, but also the medical geography in which studies are connected to the governmental policies. In the 1980s the Geography of Health emerges with a social critical approach, which includes introducing new tools such as the GIS. The area of health has made several initiatives to introduce the GIS, such as partnership with the health-care system, the town hall and universities, exchanging of cartographic bases, techniques, methodology and workforce training. The geographic study in the last decades has highlighted in its discussion the territorial and spatial thematic and it has been the main topic in the Geographic discussion agenda. Concerning about the research in the area of health especially in its planning, specialists of the area have noticed an expressive interference of the territory in their actions. Geográfica fazendo a descrição de doenças ou a Geografia Médica cujos estudos estão ligados as políticas governamentais. Na década de 1980, a Geografia da Saúde vem com abordagens críticas e de cunho social, e incorporando novas ferramentas como o SIG. A área de saúde tem feito várias iniciativas para a implantação do SIG, seja através de parcerias entre órgãos do sistema único de saúde, seja com prefeituras e universidades:
