Aprendendo com humor: o gênero humor e o subgênero humor negro

Abstract. Unlike laughter and humor, black humor, as a sub-genre of humor, has not been privileged with theories and studies that, since ancient times, have been aimed at investigating and describing humor as a genre. In Brazil, for example, neither humor nor black humor has been the focus of sociological, philosophical, or linguistic studies. As to foreign literature the focus of the few researchers who had shown some interest in discussing the subject was merely historical or psychological. This is the reason why this work investigates and describes Brazilian humor and black humor. To accomplish this task the author has the support not only of Thomas Veatch,
Victor Raskin, whose works supply the conditions necessary for the construction of humor as a genre, but also of Elias Thomé Saliba because his work points at the historical foundations of black humor in Brazil Considering that both the language and the subjects involved are established and defined during interaction, and that it is interaction that yields the multiple senses of the text, the author investigates the relation between language, interlocutors and (inter)discourses, as well as the various linguistic-pragmatic mechanisms used in the construction of Brazilian humor and black humor. These strategies, which end up by unveiling the views of the Brazilian social network about ethics and morality, are crucial to explain the perlocutionary effects of humor and black humor among Brazilians. Therefore, this work aims at describing Brazilian humor and black humor, analyzing and classifying their texts and, additionally, at presenting a proposal for the use of those texts as valuable teaching material for the teaching of Portuguese in the country.
