Redacao para admissão em uma universidade americana
I have a large and unusual family. As soon as I choose to come to the US, I knew that I was going to have a different family and that it would affect me and my understanding of the world. I moved in with my two gay uncles. It has being an amazing experience and with this I was able to understand more about myself as heterosexual and about all the others sexual orientations. However, my family in Brazil is not as different as my American family but we have been through many obstacles. My mom divorced my father when I was just a baby. I admire my mom for all that she has done for me. Also, even knowing that my father was not there for me, he is a good example of determination and sacrifice.
My father was the second youngest of 13 siblings. He grew up and his parents struggled to provide food for the family on a daily basis. One day his uncle gave him a bag of cement and now he owns the biggest hardware/home improvement chain of stores in Northeastern Brazil. He was not with me during my childhood but with this store he taught me that if we have perseverance and objective we can achieve any dream. Based on my father’s story of perseverance I began my journey.
In the beginning of my junior year of high school, let’s just say that my English was not that great. New language, no friends and a lot of cultural rules; those were my first challenges in America. However, I did not let that hold me back from learning the language quickly, and with hard work and perseverance in a short amount of time, I was on the high honor roll.
