Introduction
Operations management involves managing the resources that are used in the production and delivery of services and products. Any organization has an operations manager. Operations improvement helps businesses to function better and improve profitability by using methodologies, tools and approaches to reduce operational costs, improve the quality of their services, products and processes and increase productivity and efficiency. Examples of these methodologies are Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Supply Chain. This report focuses on results Procter and Gamble, P&G, achieved or might achieve by implementing these three methodologies in their company.
The Company
Procter & Gamble was founded in the US in 1837 by William Procter and James Gamble. Nowadays Procter and Gamble is a multinational consumer goods company. The company’s purpose is providing branded products and services of superior quality and value that improve the lives of the world’s consumers. The employees at P&G must have the same values as the company which are leadership, ownership, integrity, passion for winning, and trust. P&G follow principles in all their activities, they show respect for all individuals, they believe that the interests of the company and the individual are inseparable, and they are focused on their work.
