Simmel e Bauman: modernidade e individualização

Resumo: Georg Simmel, como um dos fundadores da sociologia, e Zygmunt Bauman, como um dos mais produtivos sociólogos da atualidade, ambos desenvolveram uma teoria da modernidade, e também uma teoria da individualização. Podemos notar também, além da centralidade desses temas, uma similaridade na maneira como os abordam. Ambos buscaram compreender a importância da razão na modernidade, e identificaram - cada um da sua maneira e em sua época - o aspecto móvel, dinâmico e instável da modernidade. Neste artigo iremos debater as idéias de Simmel e Bauman concernentes à modernidade e à individualização, buscando estabelecer diferenças e semelhanças no modo como abordam esses temas.

Abstract: Georg Simmel, as one of the founders of sociology, and Zygmunt Bauman, as one of the most productive sociologists of the present days, both had developed a theory of modernity, and also a theory of individualization. We can notice also, beyond the centrality of these subjects, a similarity in the way as they approach them. Both had searched to understand the importance of the reason in modernity, and had noticed - each one in its way and at its time - the mobile, dynamic and unstable aspect of modernity. In this article we will go to debate the ideas of Simmel and Bauman concerning modernity and individualization, trying to establish differences and similarities in the way as they approach these subjects.
