VERIFICAÇÃO DAS CONDIÇÕES DE GERENCIAMENTO DOS RESÍDUOS SÓLIDOS GERADOS NO HOSPITAL EMERENTINA DANTAS DA CIDADE DE PAULISTA-PB

Abstract
The hospital solid waste is a serious problem for hospital administrators, mainly due to lack of information on this topic, implying the increased risk of hospital infections. Generally, hospital waste are classified in infectious waste (perfuro-cutting equipment, blood, excreta, etc.), special (radioactive tailings) and common (food residues, reusable packaging, etc.). The management of such waste must meet the minimum specifications required by Brazilian law, but, according Morosino, 2010, most the hospitals little or no action take with respect to the tons of waste generated daily in various activities within a hospital. Many are limited to lead to totality its waste for special collect systems the Departments of Municipal Cleaning, that when they exist, cast directly into dumps or simply “incinerated” all waste. This form, it was found whether the conditions for management of waste generated in hospital Emerenina Dantas city of Paulista – PB meet the minimum required by Brazilian law, by applying a simple questionnaire which dealt with the investigation of forms of packaging, collect, transport, treatment and/or final destination of the waste generated in the hospital. Later, it was found that only the conditions of the infectious waste management meet the minimum required by Brazilian law presented in the Manual on Integrated Management of Solid Waste (2001).
