This paper describes a research completed about the use of context in interactive applications is ever more present and needs further study especially in cases where the scenarios are constantly changing for example, the ones that involve Ambient Intelligence (AmI) and ubiquitous computing.
The traditional automation systems, requiring human intervention and frequently must be reconfigured using remote controls or even embedded applications on mobile devices. However, the contexts of the environment and user preferences are not considered. Given a scenario in which several people are doing different activities in a residential environment, an interesting challenge for automation systems AmI is to identify trends in behavior and early reaction to user actions in a transparent way. This research studies the integration of Interactive Digital TV in Brazil associated with the development of new technologies for automation environments with a focus in Ambient
Intelligence, context identification and wireless sensor networks, based on the creation of a prototype able to recognize users and their preferences.
