ABSTRACT
This study has as main aim to show the link of urban mobility and the sustainable development in São Paulo city. The traffic jam at peak times due to car use intensively without vehicular technical inspection and in conjunction with the inefficiency of public transport does not only entail kilometers and hours of congestion, but the highest concentration of emission gas pollutants in the atmosphere and, consequently, the greater the number of cardiopulmonary diseases resulting from these effects. Migration from automobile to public transportation as a natural activity and routine will be realized if the concepts of quality, flexibility, reliability, speed and costs are associated with sustainable development.
To conclude, this article demonstrates that the integration of public transport, the increased of sustainable vehicles use and the implementation of vehicular technical inspection as effectively immediate action enable to reduce the levels of pollutants and improving the life quality in São Paulo city.

Este estudo tem como principal objetivo demonstrar o elo entre a mobilidade urbana e o desenvolvimento sustentável na cidade de São Paulo.
