Buttoncap
Location: Carrickfergus - Carrickfergus Castle

Further Comments: Affectionately known as Buttoncap, named after the large button worn on his headdress, this spiritual soldier haunts a small area near an old well. He was executed after a case of mistaken identity.

Coachman
Location: Ballymena - Dundermot Mound

Further Comments: A phantom coach and four ride around the area. The ghostly driver will ask anyone he spots 'is the bridge at Glarryford still up?' - any answer will ensure the witness will die within a year.

Black Nun
Location: Ballycastle - Graveyard

Further Comments: A local legend says if you walk around Julia McQuillan's (aka the black nun) grave seven times clockwise, seven times anticlockwise and then place your hand through the hole in the grave, you will summon the ghost of the nun. McQuillan was a recluse who became renown after issuing seven prophesies

Man in Purple Cloak
Location: Portrush - Dunluce Castle

Further Comments: Named as either Peter Carey (an English invader) or Richard de Burgh (Earl of Antrim), this ethereal figure now walks around the broken towers of the castle. A white lady (possibly Mave Roe) also haunts the place; she died of a broken heart after being denied marrying her true love. Another story tells that, during a fierce storm, the castle's kitchens collapsed into the sea - the screams of the staff can be heard as they forever fall to their doom.
