RESUMO
A tecnologia da informação é indispensável na atuação do engenheiro atual. Este artigo vem esclarecer e reforçar a importância dessa tecnologia na área específica da engenharia de energia. Logo após a introdução do termo “TI” ou tecnologia da informação, são explicitadas as áreas de atuação do engenheiro de energia. Consequentemente é levantado as diversas maneiras das quais o engenheiro de energia pode usufruir da “TI” para facilitar e tornar mais eficiente o seu trabalho. Novos softwares surgem a todo momento, a comunicação rápida e o acesso a uma grande quantidade de informações, faz da tecnologia da informação uma ferramenta da qual nenhum engenheiro que exerce sua profissão pode abrir mão. Emfim o artigo leva a conclusão de que seria impossível exercer a engenharia em sua plenitude e todos seus detalhes técnicos sem as ferramentas fornecidas pela computação.

ABSTRACT
Information technology is essential in the performance of the current engineer. This article will clarify and reinforce the importance of this technology in the specific field of power engineering. Shortly after the introduction of the term "IT" or information technology, are explained the areas of the energy engineer. Hence is raised the various ways in which the engineer can use the power "IT" to make it easier and more efficient your work. New software arise all the time, rapid communication and access to a large amount of information, makes information technology a tool which no engineer who exercises his profession can give up. Emfim the article leads to the conclusion that it would be impossible to perform engineering in all its fullness and its technical details without the tools provided by the computation.
