Biography
Martin Luther king was born on January 15, in 1929, in Atlanta Georgia in the American South, but later had his name changed to Martin. Martin Luther was the name of a great religious leader in Germany in the 1500s. His grandfather began the family's long tenure as pastors of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, serving from 1914 to 1931; this was the best job that a black man could have in the south. His father has served from then until the present, and from 1960 until his death Martin Luther acted as co-pastor. Religion was very important in Martin Luther king life. He went to church after school and all day on Sundays. Before Martin Luther king started school, he played with a little white boy, but at the age five they had to go to different schools because in that time black children could not go to schools for whites. The white boy parents told him about the difficult life for black people in the United States. In school King, loved sports, language, and reading books. Martin Luther attended segregated public schools in Georgia, graduating from high school at the age of fifteen. At seventeen, king decided to become a preacher, and after he received the B. A. degree in 1948 from Morehouse College; a distinguished Negro institution of Atlanta from which both his father and grandfather had graduated. He graduated in 1955 as d Dr. Martin Luther King. he was thinking about have a good life for him, like be a college professor, but the poor black people need him, in the first job at the Dexter Avenue Baptist church in Montgomery, Alabama, King preached to the city´s and there were 50,000 blacks and 90,000 whites in the city. It was in Boston that Martin met Coretta Scott, the woman who later became his wife. Martin Luther King and his wife were happy in Montgomery. Their first child was born.
