ABSTRACT
Sexual and reproduction rights are part of a historical dynamics by wich moralreligious-economical values, and social power are socially built up. Family planning forms the nucleous of such rights along with sexuality itself, although it has set apart man´s participation. In order to exert those rights, it´s important that men and women share a sensible decision together regarding their sexual and reproduction health. This essay´s object is man and woman´s social representation concernig manhood participation in family planning under the perspective of sexual and reproduction rights and family planning as well. It also aims to learning manhood behavior concerning family planning starting from the perspective of gender, and contributes to a better understanding of intergender relation when facing reproduction responsibilities. This essay has to do with a quantum-qualy exploratory description based on the theory of social representation. The locus of this research is the Colégio Estadual do Município de Salvador-BA. The subjects are adult men and women with marital experience. Data collecting accured by using an open questionary with free association of words. Data thereafter gathered have been carefully analysed using the method of Factor Correspondence Analisys (FCA) obtained through the soft Trideux-Mots and the containt analisys according to Bardin. The FCA index came up to a total of 74,2% variance of the answers given to the variables sex and age, when there was no significant variance to the variable matrimony. Major opposition was noticed with family planning estimulation: while the old adult group thought of it as birth control, the young adult group, specially women, pointed out information as a significant representation of family planning. On the other side, men do not show response to such a stimulus, fact that tends to lead one to believe that family planning is “women affairs” only. The qualitative analysis highlights that researched
