CEP 69077-000 Manaus-Amazonas [e-mail] [e-mail] [e-mail] [e-mail] [e-mail] [e-mail] [e-mail] Abstract. This study aims to use geoprocessing techniques applied to monitoring of degraded areas in environmental preservation areas (PPAs) in the APA of the left margin of Rio Negro - Setor Tarumã Acu /
Tarumã Mirim, near Manaus, Amazon, according with Brazilian environmental laws - CONAMA 303 (2002), qualifying and quantifying the level of degradation in the area. The results had pointed efficiency of the used tools. Through the crossing of data and generated products it was possible obtain the following results: areas of permanent preservation relating to the drainage network corresponds to approximately 6.2% of the total area of the APA, the areas of fountain measured had 0.37%, while the slope above 45 degrees indicate 56.32%; The results indicated levels of human disturbance concern in permanent preservation areas, approximately 20% of the areas of PPAs have been compromised.
