Abstract. This paper aims to report the main adverse reactions and side effects caused by the use of anti-inflammatory drugs, drug class responsible for anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and anti-thrombotic. This is a review of the literature on this pharmacological class that is considered one of the most used worldwide mainly emphasizing their adverse reactions and side effects. The principal adverse reactions of these drugs described in the literature include asthma, rhinitis, and other skin reactions. The side effects of NSAIDs are closely linked to its mechanism of action is the blocking of the synthesis of prostanoids (prostaglandins and thromboxanes) by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase, with the main Grastointestinal related tract, renal system, the coagulation process and the Cardiovascular System. It was noted that most of these events are caused by indiscriminate and irrational use of these drugs by the population mainly by ease of access and lack of information.
