Temos como nas bases de dados eletrônicas objetivos deste estudo: pesquisar disponíveis, artigos científicos que abordem a relação entre as infecções hospitalares (IH) e a lavagem das mãos; identificar o enfoque de cada estudo. Para tanto, realizou-se uma revisão de literatura nas bases de dados eletrônicas: LILACS, SCIELO e BDENF. A princípio foram encontrados 72 estudos, dos quais 70 foram selecionados, dentre estes, artigos completos e revisões sistemáticas. Dos estudos selecionados, 58,6% abordou a importância da lavagem das mãos como profilaxia das
IH; 7,1% enfatizaram o uso de novas técnicas e 15,7% a utilização de novos produtos; e 18,6% ressaltam a atuação dos profissionais de saúde frente a esse desafio. Cnclui-se que há uma deficiência de artigos científicos que abordem a temática estudada, e muito menos, artigos que relacionem todas as seguintes variáveis: profilaxia das IH, uso de novas técnicas, de novos produtos, e que inclua a atuação dos profissionais de saúde.

ABSTRACT
We have the objectives of this study: searching the electronic databases available scientific articles that address the relationship between hospital infection (HI) and washing of hands, identifying the focus of each study. Therefore, we carried out a review of literature in electronic databases: LILACS, SciELO and BDENF. Initially found 72 studies, of which 70 were selected, among them, complete articles and systematic reviews. Of the selected studies, 58.6% addressed the importance of hand washing or the prevention of HI, 7.1% emphasized the use of new techniques and 15.7% in the use of new products, and 18.6% stressed the role of health professionals face this challenge.
