INTRODUÇÃO
No setor sucroalcooleiro, após a produção do álcool, é obtido um subproduto: a vinhaça. Cada litro de álcool produzido no processo de destilação gera dez a quatorze litros de vinhaça e com isso precisou-se pensar em alternativas de reutilização da mesma, para deixar de ser descartada em rios, onde antigamente provocava a morte da vida aquática. Iniciou-se então a fertirrigação, que proporciona nutrientes necessários para a recomposição do solo. Porém a quantidade de vinhaça produzida é ainda bem maior do que a utilizada na fertirrigação, sendo que quando ela é aplicada no solo em grande quantidade, acaba por poluí-lo, afetando os lençóis freáticos.
