RESUMO: A partir da análise das relações de assalariamento rural no setor da Fruticultura
Irrigada do Submédio São Francisco, Polo Juazeiro/Petrolina, buscar-se-á problematizar a relação existente entre o (i) processo de transformação produtiva da agricultura na região, (ii) os desdobramentos na configuração do mercado de trabalho rural, com destaque para o crescimento do emprego temporário e (iii) nas condições de exploração da força de trabalho no setor. O objetivo principal do presente estudo é levantar questões sobre a realidade do trabalho rural, desigualdades e violações de direitos nas relações trabalhistas rurais e os desafios da proteção social nesse contexto de mudanças no mundo do trabalho.

ABSTRACT: From the analysis of rural wage relations in the Irrigated Fruit sector at the region of the Submedio São Francisco and the Juazeiro/Petrolina zone, the paper aims at examine the relationship among (i) the process of productive transformation of agriculture in the region, (ii) the repercussions for the rural labor market, especially in regards to the growth of temporary employment, and (iii) the conditions of exploitation of the workforce in the sector. The main goal of the present study is to raise questions about the reality of rural work, inequalities and violations to rights in rural labor relationships, and the challenges to social protection in this context of changes in the world of labor.
