Resumo: Este artigo tem por finalidade mostrar o estudo e a importância da Literatura Goiana para o licenciado em Letras. Entre as várias hipóteses levantadas, serão analisados os seguintes aspectos: a matriz curricular do Curso; a forma como a Literatura Goiana está inserida na “Literatura Brasileira”; bem como as opiniões de discentes de Letras sobre o tema em questão. Para isso foi feita uma pesquisa com discentes do terceiro e quarto ano do curso de Letras. O procedimento utilizado foi o questionário, sendo através dele que os discentes puderam responder sobre o estudo, grau de conhecimento e importância da Literatura Goiana em suas formações. Chegou-se aos seguintes resultados: observa-se que há a necessidade de ter a Literatura Goiana como disciplina na matriz do
Curso; sua ausência do currículo causa prejuízo à formação proposta aos licenciados em Letras.

Abstract: This article has to purpose show the study and the importance of Goiana Literature for graduates in Letters. Among the various hypothesis will be reviewed the following aspects: the

curriculum of the course, the way as the Goiana Literature is inserted in the “Brazilian Literature”; and

the opinions of students of Letters about this topic/question. For this was the search with students of third and fourth year of the Letters course. The conduct used was the questionnaire, been through it that students could answer about this study, degree of knowledge and the importance of Goiana
Literature in their formations. Came to the following results: it appears that there is a need Goiana
Literature as subject in the curriculum of Course; its absence from curriculum cause damage the proposed training graduates in Letters.
