ABSTRACT

This Project aims at studying Education in Plato, revisiting his work Republic in order to better understand Plato’s thinking. The Greek were the first people to explicitly deal with the problem of the nature, ideas, tasks and goals of education, we focus on the essential aspects of the work to enrich our current methods. The ancient Greece is divided in five periods: Pre-Homeric, Homeric, Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic. At first, education addressed the building of a perfect and independent individuality; after that it came to prepare the student to the private and public life in a utilitarian way, seeking an elevated man. Plato’s contribution to Greek education happens in the classic period. The application of a bibliographic review method allowed an explanation of the theme.

RESUMO
Este projeto tem por finalidade estudar a Educação, revisitando a obra “A
República”, para melhor compreender o pensamento de Platão. A priori, este estudo foi elaborado como uma forma de enriquecer os métodos atuais, pois, o primeiro povo a enfrentar explicitamente o problema da natureza, das ideias, das tarefas e objetivos do processo educativo foram os gregos. A Grécia Antiga é dividida em cinco períodos: Período Pré–Homérico, Homérico, Arcaico, Clássico e Helenístico.
Inicialmente a educação visava à formação de uma individualidade perfeita e independente. Posteriormente, veio preparar o
