The first time that the chocolate had solid form was when bakers in England began adding cacao powder to cakes around 1600's. Then in 1828 a chemist, Johannes Van Houten, invented a method of extracting the bitter tasting fat or "cacao butter" from the roasted beans, his goal was to make the drink smoother, however he unknowingly found the way for make solid chocolate. Chocolate as we know it today first appeared in 1847 when Fry & Sons of England , mixed Sugar with Cacao Powder and Cacao Butter (made by the Van Houten process) to produce the first solid chocolate bar. Then, in 1875 a Swiss manufacturer, Daniel Peters, found a way to combine cacao powder and cacao butter with sugar and dried milk powder to produce the first milk chocolate. How chocolate is made. Before cacao can be made into chocolate, it goes through several steps of processing. Cacao processing includes converting the beans into liquor, butter, cake and powder. Chocolate manufacturing includes the blending and refining of cacao liquor, cacao butter and various ingredients, such as milk and sugar. First, the beans are inspected and cleaned of any debris
