Electric cars: a powerful key to achieve a more sustainable world

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I would like to first of all thank you for coming today. My name is Renato and I am a Mechanical Engineer. The reason I am here today is to talk about the concern people have about the future of the Earth’s environment and how the adoption of electric cars on large scale can minimize this concern and provide a more sustainable world.

I should first start off by asking you to guess what the world’s population is today? The answer can be surprising: as you can see in the picture, according to a survey done by United Nations Census Bureau, in the last month of 2011 the world’ population reached the amazing number of 7 billion and this number is projected to increase even more. With the knowledge of these facts, it is high time for us to start adopting sustainable measures in our daily habits. The using of electric cars instead of cars that rely upon fossil fuels is an important sustainable trend and one of the keys to achieve a less polluted world. Otherwise, the Earth could go through irreversible environmental transformations and turn into a hostile place for human beings.

Firstly, I would like to describe why the adoptions of sustainable measures are extremely important to the Earth’s environment. Most of ours currently daily habits result in pollution, mainly atmospheric pollution. It can come from a variety of sources, and can cause illness, destroy wildlife and even contribute to global warming.
