Abstract
Maximum intervals among capture and recapture of bats in the state of Rio de Janeiro, southeast of Brazil. Bats present high longevity, being already known individuals surviving for more than 40 years.
However, few data are available about South American species. The objective of this work was to present selected records of recapture obtained from recaptured animals that shows two or more years between the capture events. These data involved five different groups that accomplish the procedure of marking bats in the state of Rio de Janeiro, using necklaces or forearm rings. Fourteen records comprising ten species
(seven Phyllostomidae, two Molossidae and one Noctilionidae) were discussed. Larger intervals were recorded for Artibeus fimbriatus (more than 9.19 years), A. obscurus (8.47 years) and Sturnira lillium
(6.50 years). A discussion of the importance of recording the recaptures to the knowledgement of movements and longevity of bats in Brazil are included.
Keywords: longevity, marking methods, necklaces, wing-banding, recapture.
