ABSTRACT
Dental professionals are constantly in contact with an environment that for their peculiarities, allows air to be a potential route of transmission of microorganisms, by means of the aerosol and droplets, that may contaminate these professionals to directly to the skin and the mucosa, by inhalation and ingestion, or indirectly, when contaminated surfaces. Also common is handling blood or other body fluids, These are the main routes of transmission of
HIV and hepatitis B virus (HBV) and C (HCV). With this, has been increasing significantly the rate of cross-contamination in oral health teams and users. Therefore of paramount importance that the dentist and staff are knowledgeable about the subject and the need to adopt standards of biosecurity to minimize these indexes. The objective of this study was to elaborate a narrative review biosafety in dentistry to minimize cross-contamination between staff and users in the oral health team of the Family Health Strategy of the Canabrava localized in the city of Coração de Jesus.
