Abstract

The crisis in water supply in the world today, due to accelerated population growth and lack of awareness of rational use of treated water that makes the demand for water will increase dramatically. Therefore, we must seek alternative ways of replacing the use of treated water for less noble purposes. Within this context, there is the system utilization of rainwater as a major solution to improve management of water use, including environmental and social benefits. This technology is growing and placing emphasis on water conservation. Collecting and storing rainwater is an option which, besides preserving treated water for more noble to help prevent flooding caused by soil sealing, or even delay the runoff volumes for these public streets, galleries and water bodies in urban road, which normally cause flooding and damage. This study aimed to investigate the use of rainwater in some applications, to reduce the consumption of treated water and consequently contribute to the sustainability of water resources. It is noteworthy, especially the rational use of water collected from rain.
