Mother Nature is a powerful force, it can be beautiful and fascinating and also dreadful and destructive. Natural Disasters are one of the ways Mother Nature uses to make Herself be felt. Well, everybody knows what natural disasters are, everybody knows how to recognize and above all everybody fears them.
That’s why from all the dreadful possible events I chose the Tsunami as the theme for my assignment for the simple reason that it ’s still a fresh and painful portrait for everybody that witnessed it or saw it. I’m speaking of the tragic events of the Tsunami that spread chaos at the Indian Ocean that affected the countries of Sri Lanka, India, Thailand and Maldives on
December 26, 2004.
Origin of the name
The term tsunami is of Japanese origin, meaning harbor (tsu) and wave (nami), and is the actual term used to describe a wave formed of seismic origin of huge proportions.

Causes of the Tsunami
Basically a Tsunami can only be formed in 3 (three) occasions:
A Tsunami can be generated by erupting submarine volcanoes ejecting magma into the ocean. It was an event like this that formed the volcanic island of Krakatoa.
