Tradução, leitura e linguística textual no ensino de língua inglesa

Resumo: Este trabalho tem como objetivo discutir as vantagens obtidas com a utilização de atividades de tradução interlingual para o professor de língua inglesa do ensino regular público, no qual fatores de depreciação impedem o sucesso do ensino de língua inglesa. A tradução, vista sob a perspectiva desconstrutivista, é entendida como atividade de leitura, produção e desenvolvimento textual e, desta forma, enriquecimento linguístico e pode ser reforçada pelos pressupostos da linguística textual. Considerando as proposições colocadas pelos Parâmetros Curriculares
Nacionais para o ensino fundamental, verificou-se, por meio de estudo de literatura pertinente e de pesquisa empírica, que as atividades de leitura e tradução levam o aluno a ter uma consciência crítica não somente em relação à linguagem, mas, sobretudo, em relação a aspectos sociopolíticos, interacionais, culturais e identitários.

Abstract: This paper aims to discuss the advantages obtained with the use of interlingual translation activities for the English as a foreign language teacher who works at Brazilian public elementary and high schools where belittling factors may prevent the success of English language teaching. Translation, seen from a deconstructive perspective, is understood as a reading, text production, and development activity and, thus, a linguistic enriching process which might be reinforced by the assumptions of Text Linguistics. Considering the propositions put by the Parâmetros Curriculares
Nacionais for Elementary schools, and through the study of pertinent literature in the field, by means of an empirical research, we found that reading and translation activities lead the student to have a critical awareness not only in relation to language, but mainly in relation to socio-political, interactive, and cultural identity matters.
