Site Configuration Technical Tips
Please review the following technical tips to prepare your computers for an iBT test delivery. Actual implementation of computer/network configurations may require assistance from the technical staff at your site. All tips are applicable for Administrative stations, Caching Proxies and Testing Workstations unless specified.
1 iBT Supported Operating Systems:
Windows XP (32-bit only)
Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit)
Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit)
Note: Macintosh/iMac and Windows 2000 are not supported. The operating system should reside on and boot from the computer?s local hard disk. Virtual machines and thin clients are not supported.
2 Administrative Privileges: Administrative privileges are required to install and operate iBT software on each computer. Users running Windows Vista must turn off the User Account Control (accessible at Control Panel → User Accounts → Turn User Account Control ON or OFF). Users running Windows 7 must set User Account Control to NEVER NOTIFY.
3 Prepare Internet Explorer: STN software requires Internet Explorer version 7, 8 or 9. It does not support Netscape, Firefox or Chrome. Please ensure that Internet Explorer is configured with the following settings for Internet Security:
a ActiveX controls and Plug-ins section:
Allow previously unused ActiveX controls to run without prompt => Enabled
Download Signed ActiveX controls => Enabled
Script ActiveX Controls marked safe for scripting => Enabled
Run ActiveX Controls and Plug-in => Enabled b Scripting section:
Use Scripting => Enabled c Miscellaneous section:
Display Mixed Content => Enabled
Only allow approved domains to use ActiveX without prompting => Disabled d User initiated pop ups must be enabled on STN Administrative stations e Uncheck ?enable protected mode? box on the security tab
4 Desktop Firewalls: Disable any desktop firewalls (such as Windows XP SP2 firewall) to allow network communication between Administrative stations, Caching
