Volume Restore procedure for a Windows 2008 Failover cluster With SQL 2008Workaround steps:
1) Remove the clustered disks from the SQL group. To complete this task, go to the Failover Cluster Management window. In the navigation tree, under Services and Applications, select the SQL group. Right-click to select the disk you want to remove and click Remove from .
2) Remove the disk from the cluster. To complete this task, go to the Failover Cluster Management window. In the navigation tree, select Storage. In the main window, in the Available Storage section, right-click to select a clustered disk; then, click Delete.
3) In the Server Manager window, go to the navigation tree. Select Storage -> Disk Management. In the main window, right-click to select the deleted cluster disk; then, click Online. Assign a driver letter. You can use the driver letter used before removing the cluster.
4) The online disk is recognized as a basic disk by the Fastback Manager. You can complete a volume restore to this volume.
5) After finishing the restore phase, bring the volume to the cluster and the SQL group. To complete this task, go to the Failover Cluster Management window. In the navigation tree, right-click to select Storage; then, click Add a disk.
6) Go to the Failover Cluster Management window, in the navigation tree, right-click to select Storage; then, go to the Available Storage section. Right click to select the cluster disk; then, click More actions – Move to another server and application. Select the SQL group.
7) In the Failover Cluster Management window, in the navigation pane, under Services and Applications, select the SQL group. In the main window, you can see the resources. Right-click to select the resource; then, click Properties. In the Properties window, go to the Dependencies tab. Add the cluster disk.
