Research Question
Along geological faults in Presidente Figueiredo, Amazonas, water springs from the Trombetas Aquifer, recognized as one of the largest and purest aquifers in Latin America. The same way geological faults can create favorable conditions, in which the aquifer could form by surface water infiltration, it can provide a pathway for pollutants to infiltrate into the aquifer. It’s slightly know the relationship between the aquifers and the geological structure, and a deeper knowledge about tectonic influence of lithological units in the aquifer’s vulnerability to contamination is needed.

Significance and implications
The waterfalls controlled by tectonic structures at Presidente Figueiredo make the region one of the major tourist attractions on the northern of Amazonia.
Because of this intense touristic activity and also the need of exploiting groundwater to meet public water supply, it is important to map which areas can be more vulnerable to contamination in order to provide
