Martin Luther King, Jr. Born in Atlanta, January 15, 1929 and died in Memphis, April 4, 1968 was a Protestant pastor and political activist. He became one of the most important leaders of the civil rights movement of blacks in the United States and worldwide, with a campaign of non-violence and love. He was the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, shortly before his assassination. His speech most remembered and famous is "I Have a Dream."
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
