ARTRITE COM DEGENERAÇÃO CONDILAR EM PACIENTE EDÊNTULO COM SINTOMATOLOGIA DOLOROSA – RELATO DE CASO
ARTHRITIS WITH DEGENERATION IN CONDYLAR EDENTULOUS PATIENT SYMPTOMATOLOGY WITH PAINFUL - CASE REPORT

RESUMO Artrite significa inflamação das superfícies articulares. Diversos tipos de artrites podem afetar a ATM, a exemplo : osteoartrite , osteoartrose e poliartrites. A osteoartrite é uma das artrites mais comuns que afetam a ATM. Portanto, o CD precisa compreender essa desordem e sua progressão natural. A osteoartrite também tem sido chamada de doença articular generalizada. O objetivo deste trabalho é relatar o caso de um paciente edêntulo portador de artrite com degeneração, apresentando sintomatologia dolorosa.

ABSTRACT
Arthritis means inflammation of the joint surfaces. Various types of arthritis may affect the ATM, such as: osteoarthritis, osteoarthritis and polyarthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common arthritis affecting the ATM. Therefore, the CD need understand this disorder and its natural progression. Osteoarthritis has also been called generalized joint disease. The objective of this study is to report the case of a patient with rheumatoid edentulous with degeneration presenting painful symptoms.

INTRODUÇÃO
As articulaçôes temporomandibulares (ATMs) são parte do sistema mastigatório, que está envolvido em funções complexas como a mastigação, deglutição e fonética (Okeson, 2008). Durante as funções do sistema mastigatório podem ocorrer alterações. A tolerância fisiológica permite que, durante as funções do sistema mastigatório estes eventos sejam executados sem que haja algum efeito adverso. Caso os eventos sejam de tal forma acentuados que ultrapassem a tolerância fisiológica dá-se origem a DTM. Vários fatores podem levar a DTM como: traumas, fraturas,
