iOS, Android Adoption Has Surpassed Any Consumer Technology In History [REPORT]

It's evident that consumers have fallen in love with Apple iOS and Google's Android Os for mobile devices, but the latest statistics show that consumers may love these consumer technologies more than any other that has come before them.
Flurry, a leading market analysis company, is reporting that the rate of iOS and Android device adoption has surpassed any consumer technology in history. That means that more people have begun using iOS and Android faster than they have used calculators, television sets, bought PCs, subscribed to Internet services or interacted with any other technology through the history of mankind.
The report claims that smart device (meaning smartphones and tablets) have been adopted 10X faster than personal computers were adopted during the 80s PC revolution and 2X faster than people adopted the Internet during the 90s. The adoption rate of smart devices is also 3X faster than the recent social network adoption.
"Five years into the smart device growth curve, expansion of this new technology is rapidly expanding beyond early adopter markets such as such as North America and Western Europe, creating a true worldwide addressable market. Overall, Flurry estimates that there were over 640 million iOS and Android devices in use during the month of July 2012," reports Flurry.
The data in the report was gathered using more than 200,000 applications that Flurry tracks, running on more than 640 million devices worldwide. The market analysts company says that tin can reliably detect more than 90 percent of all iOS and Android devices active in the world during any given month.
