Fast it access was allowed to scientists and later to universities all over the world. And then, more than five millions were already connected with this network.
The internet has jumped the quantum leap that separates the traditional, simply personal usage of information technologies to a new era when everybody will use IT. It allows users to: post information for others to access and update it frequently, access multimedia information and diverse perspectives from around the world, exchange electronic mails which are received in few minutes and even in few seconds, it finished with the isolation, bringing new communities together with the easily connection with people around the world without leave home…
But it was moreover perfect, so appeared the virus, which took down systems, wiping out hard drives, making people spend money. But it wasn’t just it! The hackers also appeared, invading any computer system. The hacking cases and the plagiarism had also become more and more usual.
Nowadays, everyone knows it, almost everyone have access to it. But, does anyone know what it future reserves?
In that future, probably the internet will be in three dimensions. And maybe schools and teachers will become a past thing, with no more pencil and no more books, with the use of virtual classrooms. But will this be a good thing? Maybe e-learning will be substantially cheaper than conventional schooling and it will give to students the freedom to study wherever they choose. But there’s other side: with this, people will miss the companionship and networking opportunities of learning in a group.
In the future, the world will become in a global village, what is good: people will stay more near, but also bad: the boundaries will collapse, there won’t be more cultures and
