CATADORES DE MATERIAIS RECICLÁVEIS: excluídos ou beneficiários das políticas sociais?

Resumo

O presente trabalho é produto da pesquisa realizada em meados de 2011 com os catadores que sobreviviam do garimpo do lixo no maior Aterro Controlado da América Latina, localizado no estado do Rio de Janeiro no município de Duque de Caxias, pois em função do anúncio oficial de seu encerramento para o primeiro semestre de 2012, nos suscitou a realização de um trabalho que nos permitisse conhecer melhor a realidade dos catadores para auxiliá-los no período que não mais contarão com o recebimento de materiais recicláveis no Aterro para sua sobrevivência. A investigação se processou através do contato direto, onde através da fala desses atores, foi possível saber como eles se veem e se reconhecem e ainda quais as ações desenvolvidas pelo poder público através do Centro de Referência de Assistência Social – CRAS e outros programas e/ou projetos existentes que possam encaminhá-los na garantia de trabalho e renda no futuro.
Abstract
This work is the result of research realized in mid-2011 with the scavengers who surviving with the mining waste in the largest Landfill in Latin America, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro in Duque de Caxias. After the official announcement of the closure of the Landfill for the first half of 2012, we decided to search about the reality of the scavengers for to help them in the period that they will not receive recyclables of the landfill for their survival. The research was made by direct contact and through speech it was possible to know how they see and recognize themselves and what are the actions undertaken by the government through the Centre for Social Assistance Reference - CRAS and other programs and / or existing projects that can guide them in securing employment and income in the future.
