A violência doméstica é um tema bastante discutido na atualidade. Este artigo trata da situação econômica como fator capaz de contribuir para o aumento desta violência. O estudo é ilustrado por uma pesquisa realizada na Delegacia da Mulher de Florianópolis, onde fica clara a posição das mulheres e as dificuldades que têm de perceberem seus direitos. Mas é necessário debater o tema, pois assim poderemos contribuir para que as mulheres rompam com as formas de submissão que marcam suas vidas e entendam, que a conquista da independência econômica é o primeiro passo para estabelecerem relações de igualdade entre os gêneros. Palavras-chave: violência doméstica, violência contra a mulher, situação econômica.

The household violence is a issue discussed in the presente. This article analyse the economic situation as a factor that contribute to the increase of this violence. The study is illustrated with a research realized in a women’s police headquarters in Florianópolis, where the position of the women and their trouble to understand their rights are observed. But, is necessary to discuss the issue, because of this way we’ll can help the woman to put an end to the submission in their lifes and to understand that the economic independence is the first step to establish a equality relation with the men.
