TIME VARIABILITY OF RAINFALL IN PALMAS-TO

ABSTRACT: This study aimed to investigate the variability of hourly precipitation for the period of 24 hours in the city of Palmas-TO. We used hourly mean monthly rainfall for the period 2001 to 2010 the meteorological station of the Laboratory of Meteorology and
Climatology (LabMet), Federal University of Tocantins, located 10 ° 10 'South, 48 ° 25' west and 214m. Calculated the average hourly rainfall for each month, the equivalent percentage for the frequencies of observed events per hour in each month of the rainy season. It was found that in the rainy season Palmas rain events at all times of day, however, these events suffer hourly variations during the rainy season. Since at the beginning of the rainy season precipitation tends to occur more frequently in the afternoon. From December to February rainfall events occur more frequently between dawn and afternoon. As of March events are more frequent between the dawn and the morning.
