Bentley is a very expensive brand of cars; it was founded on the January 18, 1919 by Walter Bentley. Walter was born on September, 16, 1888 from a nine brother’s family how’s father was Alfred Bentley. Walter was a fanatic engineer, obsessed by speed that had only one dream:
To have a car with his name.
The company was created in London, it was previously known for his range of rotary aero-engines in World War I.
By the end of the war this company designed and produced the car that won the 24 hours of Lemans car race in 1924 and the following models that, repeated those successes 4 more years between 1927 and 1931. The cars had to wait for 72 years to win this fabulous race again in 2003.
This was a great market image that allowed the company to be world known.
The company was acquired by Rolls Royce in 1933, and today the company is owned by the Volkswagen group, but all cars are still assembled in England.
Sales have grown since 1998 until 2007 to 10.000 cars sold in one year, in 2008 dropped to 7600, and since then have increased again despite the economical crises we live in.
Until today Bentley has build 21different car models, the most famous is Bentley Continental. Today Bentley sells only 3 different models, Muslanne, Continental Cabrio and Continental.
Bentley as company employees 3500 people worldwide and had a net income of 8 million euros in 2011.
