Abstract
This article intends to tackle the impact caused on the environment due to production methods used in Textile Industries, by realizing a brief analysis in each step of the productive process and the materials used in order to do so.
This essay was developed based on the study realized in “Hering Têxtil S.A.” It made clear that the main problem is water pollution, which occurs during the dyeing process of all fabrics.
The growth of the main raw material, which is cotton, is also responsible for the environmental impact, that’s why it is also important to study that process ouce the industry works with cotton from all over the world.
I have come to the conclusion that there are measures that can and should be taken to decrease the impact, which is a direct result of the textile production. In order to do this, we need to make the government, the general population, the consumers and mainly the industries aware of these issues.

1. INTRODUÇÃO
No final deste século o termo proteção ambiental vem sendo muito comentado, se por modismo ou real conscientização é uma questão que pode ser analisada.
Pretende-se abordar neste artigo o fato de que muitas empresas, principalmente do setor industrial, estão tomando as providências necessárias para que sejam consideradas ecologicamente corretas.
Para isto as empresas estão procurando adequar seus processos de produção de forma que seja possível remanejar seus recursos gerando resíduos em quantidades menores e menos tóxicos, utilizando menos energia, água e produtos químicos nocivos ao meio ambiente e por conseqüência à saúde humana.
