O PROCESSO ABOLICIONISTA: UM ESTUDO SOBRE AS CAUSAS E OS EFEITOS DE UM IDEAL DIVERGENTE (1870-1888)

RESUMO

Este estudo não busca apenas compreender o processo abolicionista como um todo e suas diferentes vertentes ideológicas da época, mas também mostrar a realidade do recém-alforriado, que não se diferencia do seu antigo status de escravo, visto que o próprio, geralmente, não era dotado de habilidade singular a não ser seguir ordens. Sendo assim, eles não eram vistos como merecedores de receber cargos além dos que já exerciam anteriormente à abolição. Posteriormente a isso, se seguiu uma segregação sócio espacial quanto as funções que estes alforriados poderiam ocupar no papel sócio econômico e na formação cultural do país.

ABSTRACT

This study seeks not only to understand the abolitionist process as a whole and it's various ideological strands of that time, but also shows the reality of the newly emancipated, which is no different from his old slave status, since himself generally was not gifted with natural ability but to follow orders. So, they were not seen as worthy of receiving positions than those already exercised before the abolition. Subsequent to that, was followed by a socio-spatial segregation as the functions that the emancipated could occupy role in socio-economic and in the cultural formation of the country.
