Abstract
Learn how to read and in a satisfactory manner is a challenge that has been found in all areas of knowledge. But read satisfactorily implies an understanding and interpretation of what you are reading and this is the greatest difficulty that found in all fields of education mainly in the public schools of our country. When it comes to the English language the situation is even more complicated, because it comes to make a habit of reading becomes something interesting and of great importance to high school students. Many have been the difficulties encountered by both students and educators when it comes to reading something related to this language. A brief history of the process of formation of the teaching of reading in Brazil can provide us with a better understanding of why the habit of reading in our country is not something so essential, as if looking for more ready-made information as disclosed by the media, TV, internet, radio what has become more students stranded on the practice of reading. . Read and interpret texts in English are something much more fundamental than in our days and should at least be of interest to all students studying the English language. The English language educator needs to motivate reading texts that facilitate this approach of the student with the reading and interpretation of the texts proposed by the teacher. Both the teaching and the learning of the English language should be improved and presented in such a way as to cause it to have more qualified professionals in the labour market.
