RESUMO
The rainwater is a resource not much explored in Brazil. If it’s considered its use for non-potable, with implementation of catchment and storage of storm water, helping at decreasing future possibilities of water scarcity, taxes charged by the supply of utilities, among others. The recently study looks for showing the economic viability of this technique in the region of Presidente Prudente – SP, through study of cases, analysis of the data collected and the bibliographic lifting. Then it can be concluded that, the initial costs of implantation of this system are high. It can be considered a long-term investment, the reward for the investment depends of three straight factors, average local precipitation, area of collecting and volume stored. And its indirect benefits are very important at the solution of recent problems faced in the cities like flooding, lack of water, needing of the resource for drinking, among others.

A água da chuva é um recurso pouco explorado no Brasil. Haja vista sua utilização para fins não potáveis com a implantação de captação, armazenamento e reuso de águas pluviais e a contribuição desta técnica na diminuição de possibilidades futuras de escassez, tarifas cobradas pelo abastecimento de concessionarias, entre outros.
