UMA ABORDAGEM SOBRE OS SOLDADOS DA BORRACHA

A batalha da borracha caracterizou-se, pela grande migração, principalmente de nordestinos, para os grandes seringais da Amazônia no decorrer da década de 1940. Estes trabalhadores, recrutados pelo SEMTA, abandonaram suas famílias e suas vidas para se submeter aos trabalhos no seringais, acreditando na possibilidade de tempos melhores. . O objetivo deste artigo é fazer um panorama histórico acerca destes personagens da nossa história, tão importantes e ao mesmo tempo excluídos socialmente em meio a uma conjuntura marcada pela Segunda Guerra Mundial e pela seca no Nordeste. Neste panorama destaca-se não só o âmbito dos acordos de Washington, mas também a visão norte-americana sobre a Amazônia, a imagem desta na virada do século, o recrutamento dos imigrantes e a memória destes para a construção de uma história do tempo presente.

ABSTRACT

The battle of the rubber was characterized by great migration, mostly from the Northeast to the great rubber plantations in the Amazon during the 1940s. These workers, recruited by SEMTA, left their families and their lives to submit the work in rubber plantations, believing in the possibility of better times. . The purpose of this article is to make a historical overview about these characters in our history, so important and at the same time socially excluded amid a situation marked by the Second World War and drought in the Northeast. In this scene stands out not only the scope of the agreements of Washington, but the U.S. view on the Amazon, the image at the turn of this century, the recruitment of these immigrants and memory to construct a history of the present time.

A batalha dos soldados da borracha se deu no decorrer da década de 1940, onde, longe do front de batalha, os recrutados pelo SEMTA –
