Abstract
The total numbers rise every year while alcohol related deaths remain the third leading cause of mortality and representing a cost of over $185 billion to the United States. Over 700,000 Americans receive treatment for alcoholism on any given day. Alcohol dependence is a chronic disorder because of the way it follows its course (Johnson 2010). There are different ways people can be influenced enough to become alcohol dependents and treatment approaches very as well. This literature review intends to reflect over some different treatment possibilities available. First, one has to understand some of the influence alcohol has over society, the alcoholics´ immediate context, and the human body. Next, the influence of medication options for the treatment of the human body. Following, socioeconomic and psychosocial influences over the alcoholic´s treatment.

Over 700,000 Americans receive treatment for alcoholism on any given day. Alcohol dependence is a chronic disorder because of the way it follows its course (Johnson 2010). While the consequences of heavy drinking influence the entire society, each alcoholic has a part in the whole.
The exaggerated drinking usually lead to a wide range consequences related to work and family problems, high-risk behavior, as well as, health and legal problems. Lack of control over the use of alcohol is the necessary condition for a person to become an alcohol dependent. This happens when the individual drinks more than intended to drink, or fails to reduce the alcohol intake or even, is incapable of stop drinking.
