RESUMO

O termo “burocracia”, como conhecemos, surgiu por volta de 1740 através do economista francês Jacques Claude Marie de Vincent, Seigneur de Gournay como crítica ao funcionamento das repartições públicas já naquele período. O estudo da burocracia e sua influência nas organizações foi mais tarde aprofundado e difundido através da obra do sociólogo alemão Max Weber. O trabalho de Weber aqui resumido tratava do poder exercido pela estrutura burocrática como forma de racionalidade e influência na formalização de estruturas organizacionais.

ABSTRACT

The term "bureaucracy" as we know it emerged around 1740 by French economist Jacques Claude Marie Vincent, Seigneur de Gournay as critical to the functioning of public offices already in that period. The study of bureaucracy and its influence on organizations was later deepened and spread through the German sociologist Max Weber's work. Weber's work summarized here was the power exercised by the bureaucratic structure as a form of rationality and influence in formalizing organizational structures.
