Christmas . Origin of Christmas and the meaning of the celebration .
Christmas is a day on which we commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. In ancient times, Christmas was celebrated in several different dates because no one knew the exact date of Jesus' birth. It was only in the fourth century that December 25 was established as the official date of celebration. In Ancient Rome, December 25th was the date when the Romans celebrated the beginning of winter. Therefore, it is believed that there is a relationship of this fact with the official celebration of Christmas.
The old Christmas celebrations used to last up to 12 days, as this was the time it took for the three Magi arrive to the city of Bethlehem and deliver the gifts (gold, frankincense and myrrh) to the baby Jesus. Currently, people usually assemble trees and other Christmas decorations in early December and unmount them up to 12 days after Christmas.
From the chronological point of view, Christmas is a date of great importance to the West, as it marks the first year in our history.

The Christmas tree and the Nativity .
In almost all countries of the world, people ride Christmas trees to decorate homes and other environments. In conjunction with the Christmas decorations, trees provide a special atmosphere in this period.
It is believed that this tradition began in 1530 in Germany with Martin Luther. One night, while walking through the forest, Luther was impressed with the beauty of the snow-covered pines. The stars in the sky helped compose the image that Luther reproduced with tree branches at his home. Beyond the stars, cotton and whatnot, he used candles to show his family the beautiful scene he had witnessed in the forest.
This tradition was brought to the Americas by some Germans who came to live in America during the colonial period. In Brazil, a country with a Christian majority, Christmas trees are present in many places, because in addition to decorating, symbolizing joy, peace
