The advanced of medical technology is really important to the human’s health, but it’s also increase the cost of their treatment. Although a life to be saved has no price, we must consider how important is the acquisition of new technology. To get the final price to the implementation of a new technology, we must consider a lots of points, as how much it will cost to replace all the infrastructure involved in the old technology to the new technology, the qualification of the users, all of these cost must be added to the purchase price of the new technology. The installation of the new infrastructure and the installation request a special care, because sometimes the new technology is very big, like a CT and MRI, that you can’t move it to another place if you install it in the wrong way, or don’t prepare the exam room in a appropriated way, that is request by law. The user must be trained appropriated to don’t make any mistake while using the new technology, to train the user appropriated you must stop the sector where the equipment is installed. And the kind of technology that acquiring, also affects the price, can be divided in the kind of medical technology, can be for Diagnostic; Survival (lifesaving); Illness management; Cure; Prevention and System management. Or it can be divided in the type of technologies.
- Definitive (Curative, Preventive) Technologies, the ones that are definitive that means they are able to cure or prevent a disease. Considering the cost of research and development, they are relatively cheap. For example, vaccines and antibiotics. -Halfway (Add-On) Technologies, the ones that improve the diagnostic of a disease, but most often is more expensive than Definitive Technology. For example MRI and CT has improved the diagnosis of brain diseases. -Deferral Technologies, the ones that slow de advancement of a disease and improve the condition of the patient.
