I think being relatable and able to motivate is the most important quality. If you’re both of these things, it’s easy to establish communication and a relationship with the student. Be able to motivate people speaks to a certain charisma, which is usually manifested in entertainment of some sort. After you have developed a bond with your students, it’s much easy to be patient with them – you have established a personal stake in their success. This is a direct correlation to their individual progress. While being knowledgeable of your subject is important, people are constantly learning.
