Verbal Repertoire presents variation, in plurilingualism or monolingualism. Some varieties of speech: native speech, mother tongue, dialect, register, standard language, intergroup language, language for wider communication, pidgin and patois.
A language has three functions: express creativity, characterize cultural identity and serve as a medium of communication.
It’s necessary to reinforce that “different languages have different functions and domains – interpersonal, societal, aesthetic and political”.
Linguistic heterogeneity can be considered a problem from the social point of view, because minor languages and dialects cannot be respected as they deserve to be, and the people who speak these languages can suffer whit prejudice.
